On November 10, 2022, U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers approved the leadership team in the multidistrict social media addiction litigation filed against social media giant Meta, parent company of Facebook and Instagram, and a number of other social media companies. Plaintiffs in several social media addiction litigation have alleged that the social media platforms are addictive and exposure to them by underage users can result in psychological injuries resulting in eating disorders, anxiety and depression, suicidal ideation, and self-harm.
